Hide and Seek

My girls love to play Hide and Seek...and I love it too. I started playing with Hannah when she was about three. We would play for what seemed like hours and she would hide in one of two places--the last place she hid or the last place I hid! She was so excited when Winnie was born to play with her. I would hide Winnie and then myself. It was so funny. Well we decide to hold Bobby's first game of hide and seek the other night. Here are some of our hiding places. Bobby is a really good hider.

Welcome Robert Mitchell DeKay!

Robert Mitchell DeKay was born on February 13, 2010. He weighed 7 lbs 9 oz. ---my smallest baby by far! He is doing great--a very good baby. We will call him Bobby. He will be a mama's boy if I have anything to do with it.

Everything We Do is Music

For preschool this time I am doing a unit on music. Today we had a special guest, Becca! She brought along her new Ukulele and entertained us all. I busted out my guitar and she played that too. The kids really ate it up. We had a great time.

We made these awesome guitars so the kids could play along too. We played lots of songs together. The kids have no idea I can't really play the guitar. I was just strumming along on my real guitar at the right speed for Twinkle and Row, Row, Row Your Boat. They loved it!

Alyeska

Robert and I spent a couple of days up at Alyeska last weekend without the kids. It was a much needed break before the baby comes. Robert spent a lot of time in orthodontic meetings, but we got to have fun too.

Things I recommend about Alyeska

1.) Jack Sprats. It is a scrumptious restaurant that serves gourmet food. I love the seafood there. This year I had the shrimp and polenta while Robert enjoyed the blue cheese stuffed Filet Mignon. I wont mention the fresh spring roll appetizers, butternut squash soup, and Creme Brulee!

2.) The Spa at the Resort. We stayed at the resort and while Robert was in meetings I went to the spa and pampered myself (hey I am 8 months pregnant I deserve it!) I enjoyed an hour long pedicure which was heavenly.

3.) Skiing. OK this is obvious. I didn't ski this time, but Robert and his dad enjoyed Saturday on the slopes.

4.) The hot tub. Yes I am 8 months pregnant and went in the hot tub! I talked with my doctor beforehand and he said "no problem". I did get some accussatory looks though...or maybe they were just staring at my enormous belly.

As you can tell I had a great time. I even got a lot of sewing done and a lot of HGTV watching.

UNO...What?

We have been playing a lot of UNO lately. The girls love it and we can play it as a family. I have to admit it is much more fun than Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders (the worst game ever invented). Uno is usually fast paced although we played a game the other night that lasted well over a half an hour!

Winnie is content to have us help her a bit, but loves any chance she gets to play a "5" because she is five of course! We also have these cool card holders to help her hold them all.

Hannah is content only if she is playing a Wild Draw 4. I must say it really tries my patience as a parent because she doesn't try to use any strategy at all. She lays those wilds out the second they are in her hand. Oh well who wants the game to end anyways!

The other night when we where playing. I asked the girls if they understood why we said, "UNO" when we had one card left and proceeded to explain that it meant "one" in Spanish and hence the name of the game. Robert looked at me in amazement, "I never knew that!"
