Jack says "I love you"!
Jack says, "I love you"! He said it for the first time when he was 11 months old. Hannah, Jack and I were laying in my bed when Hannah looked at Jack and said "I love you." He looked at her and said it right back. It was awesome. Hannah and I looked at each other in amazement. I kind of thought it was a fluke, but he did it again a few days later. He doesn't say it every time, but every once in a while he does. Today he said it with out prompting. We love Jack too!

A tale of a frantic mother
On Saturday Robert spent the day snow machining. I decided the kids and I needed to get out of the house or we would go crazy, so we decided to go to the Bear's Tooth to a movie. Bobby will watch a full movie at home, so I decided between pizza, movie, treats and his blanket all would be well. WRONG!
The movie was Wreck it Ralph and it was a 3D movie. It was actually quite good and Bobby did remarkably well for most of it. Jack started to get fussy with about a half hour left which is exactly the time Bobby decided he needed to sit on my lap as well. Jack didn't want to go to Hannah and I couldn't take Jack out with out Bobby. So I decided to hold Jack in the back of the theater (we were about 4 rows from the back). Bobby quickly joined me but was not content to stand quietly beside me. He wanted to crawl up and down the aisles! Jack was getting really loud at that point so I chased Bobby down an aisle and we left the auditorium with about 10 minutes of the movie remaining.
Bobby did NOT want to leave. So I had to drag him out and then force him to sit on my lap while screaming in the lobby. We couldn't go to the car with out the girls and our coats and things, so we waited. Bobby was kicking and screaming and having a melt down because he wanted to go back in. I was not getting sympathetic looks at this point I was getting whatkindofterriblemotherareyou? looks.
Finally the girls came out with all our stuff, but Bobby wouldn't let me get his coat or boots on. So we trooped out to the car in 15 degree weather with me trying to hold a coat around my flailing son.Oi.
Things like this are so stressful to me. They really make me feel like a failure as a mother. I couldn't speak the whole way home. By the time we got home Bobby was sleeping peacefully in his car seat and all was well again.

Sunday Afternoon Skating
Two Sundays ago church was cancelled due to icy conditions caused by 40 degree weather! Rather than hole up in the house going stir crazy we braved the roads to see the ice sculptures in town square park and let the girls do some ice skating. It was so funny because when we go there it was raining and the rink had a good two inches of water on it! Being the true Alaskans that we are we didn't let the weather stop us!
Winnie skated the longest.
Hannah skated for a while and then walked around the ice rink with her Bogs on.
Bobby Spent most of his time jumping in puddles....
or riding in trains.

A Very Hungry Caterpillar First Birthday!
Jack is one! He is such a special little one-year-old. I love him so very much. Robert and Winnie were in Valdez on the day of his birthday so, we celebrated the next day. We made him A Very Hungry Caterpillar cake and it turned out so cute. It was huge...the equivalent of three entire cakes!! Well he turned out to be a very hungry one-year-old because he dug right into the cake we put in front of him. He would have eaten the whole thing if I hadn't taken it away from him.

A Trip to the Cabin
When we arrived we could see Denali, but this small glimpse was all we got.
Hannah and I skied in. I spent several hours skiing around during our stay.
Hannah found a pair of skates in the cabin, so she dug herself a little ice rink to skate around in.
Winnie rode all around on the snow machines. She also spent some time skiing as well.
Robert, Bobby and I went for a morning ride.
This where Bobby spent most of his time at the cabin.

Eldon DeKay Family 2012
This year all of Robert's siblings and their families were able to come up for Christmas. That made it a whopping 35 people at the DeKay Manor on Christmas! I was sure that this whole month would be crazy. I was right. There was a lot of sickness being passed around. In spite of all the craziness, it was really nice.
Some highlights of the vacation were:
Girl's Lunch at Shine's Sushi
Toddler Time at H2Oasis
Gingerbread House Making at our house
Gingerbread House Making at our house
Adults only Dinner and Devotional at Piccolinos
Jewish Dinner and Messiah Sing-a-long (we missed that one)
Christmas Eve Program
Christmas Day Brunch and family picture
Many family dinners and just hanging out
