Honors Orchestra

Hannah auditioned for and was accepted into the Honors Orchestra for this Spring. It is an orchestra comprised of all 6th graders in the school district. She was one of only two students from her school selected to play. She attended a weekly practice in Anchorage for three months. We were certainly proud of her.

We finally did Fur Rondy

We went to see the Fur Rondezvous snow sculptures with our project day group this week. I was thrilled to have someone to go with because I can never talk Robert into doing anything Fur Rondy related. He has way too many things he would rather be doing on any given Saturday. When Lynne suggested going as project group on a beautiful sunny Tuesday we jumped at the chance!

Iditarod 2013

The Iditarod is on right now. The starting spot is in downtown Anchorage, but shortly after they run past my parents home in East Anchorage. This year we made it in time to see the last couple of sleds go through.

Bahamas

I just got back from a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas. It was something that was in the works for a year. I went with my SIL, Becca, my MIL, Beverly, and my friend Valorie. We had such a nice time. I really would have liked it to have been longer, but Jack still is not weened and I was really worried about how he would do. Turns out he was fin and I could have stayed longer! Thank you to my great man for taking care of things at home. When I came home the laundry was done, the house was spotless and I had two bouquets of flowers waiting for me. What a guy!

Becca and I shared a room with a view. Ours had a porthole and there were chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us when we checked it because I booked through AK Airlines!

It was so nice to have a window in our room. This is the view when we first arrived. There were 5 other ships in port at the time!

Miami

There were many restraunts on the ship. There was a buffet of course but we chose to eat at one of the other restraunts for almost every meal. The chocies were great and you could order what ever you wanted.

Lovely towel art every evening. I loved them , but every night when I came back to my room I missed my kiddos!

Here we all are. This is the only picture I have of us all together. Such a fun group. 

The first day was Freeport, Bahamas. We got a taxi to a beach 20 miles away to get a way from the crowds. It was a lovely beach and should have been great snorkeling, but it was windy so the waves were choppy. The sun wash shining thought, and it was beautiful

The second day was in Nassau Grand Bahamas. The is the capital of the Bahamas. This morning was spent shopping. The afternoon was spent at the beach.

Our ship is called the Norweigon Sky. You can tell how massive it was. This used to be the ship for the Hawaii cruise.--hence the giant lei on the side.

The last day was at the ships private island called the Grand Stirrup Cay. We had to take tenders out
to the little island. That day was cloudy and windy in the morning, but it brightened up in the afternoon.
