Bobby at Two

Bobby was sent to me two years ago from a loving Heavenly Father who apparently trusts me very much. Being his mother has taught me a lot about myself. It has shown me that I need to let go of my selfishness and just meet his needs. He was prayed for, cried for, fasted for and very much desired. When he finally came along, 5 and a half years after Winnie, I had gotten comfortable. I was was content to spend my days doing what I wanted to do. Whether that be cleaning, reading, sewing, shopping, skiing,or cooking--they were all things I wanted to and I could do them pretty much when I wanted.

Then he came. I loved him so much. My heart added on a new room for this little spirit and I have had to let go of myself. Bobby needs me right now. He is not content to play along side me. He needs me to play with him, to teach him, to help him and to save his life on a daily basis. I am slowly working on letting to old "me" go and realizing this is the version of "me" that is necessary and good right now.

When Bobby was 3 months old, I was laying in my bed and I had the overwhelming impression that he had a brother waiting to come to earth and that he was preparing to come soon. This was frightening and unbelievable to me as my health is not optimal and we had such a hard time conceiving Winnie and Bobby. Jack joined our family 18 months later. Bobby has a brother that he loves so much. I know he was meant to come to earth to be a friend and confidant. I can tell Bobby recognizes him, loves him and missed him.

Two year old Bobby:

is 35 inches tall
is 28 pounds
loves his "kiki" (blanket)
sleeps in a new big boy bed
wears size 2t clothes
likes nursery
loves cheese, yogurt, applesauce and noodles
loves dinosaurs and blocks
LOVES working with daddy in the garage
does not sit through sacrament meeting
always has a smile on his face
likes to play in the snow
can get into everything
takes naps
sleeps 12 hours a night
loves taking baths
loves playing with his sisters
loves being a part of our family

The Day We Went Bowling

Friday was an in-service day and Robert was off, so we decided to take the kids bowling. We have only been bowling a handful of times, but we all enjoyed doing something different. It was Bobby's (and Jack's) first time and they both had a blast!


Bobby actually managed to get a strike using this handy dandy gadget. Robert wouldn't let me use it though.




Spotty was visiting for the weekend again. He also enjoyed bowling.

Bobby is TWO cute!

Bobby is two years old today. He is such a happy little boy. I cannot believe the joy that he brings into our family.

Here is is with the fire truck cake I made for him. I put it together while he was napping. When he woke up he was so excited. He kept saying "truck, truck truck!"

Jell-O Anyone?

I was feeling in the mood for Jell-O! It turned out lovely. I found the recipe on pintrest. I have always wanted to make a layered Jell-O dessert and this seemed like a good time to try. Here is the recipe I followed:

7 Layer Finger Jello

4 pkg. 3 oz Jello
4 pkg. Knox unflavored gelatin
1 can sweetened condensed milk

1. Mix 1 pkg flavored jello with 1/2 pkg of unflavored gelatin. Add 1 cup boiling water. Stir to dissolve. Cool to room temp and pour into 9 x 13 glass pan. Refrigerate for 15 minutes (and make sure your fridge is level!)

2. Mix 1 can sweetened condensed milk with 1 cup boiling water. In a small bowl, sprinkle 2 pkg unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water. Let stand a few minutes and then add 1/2 c boiling water to dissolve gelatin; add to milk mixture and stir to combine. Cool to room temp and pour 1 cup of milk mixture over first layer of jello. Refrig for 15 minutes.

3. Repeat for next three flavors. Let jello set. Cut and serve!

A Blessing

Jack was blessed on Sunday, February 5, 2012. It was a very special day. We are so happy to have him as a part of our family and were happy to learn some of the blessings Heavenly Father has in store for him. Robert offered the blessing and Eldon, Tyson, Curtis, Shawn Mertin and Doug Green stood in the circle.

This is Jack on the blessing quilt Ganna Joy made for our family. All of our children have had it at their blessings.




Jack's cousin, Crimson, was also blessed that day. We had a celebration dinner that night at the big house. I bought them them sweet cake and later realized that it looked like a wedding cake.


Cousins! Crimson is about a month older than Jack.

I hope to be posting a few more pictures later from the Townsends. I was really sad beceause I took a whole bunch of cute pictures that day with our good camera and realized the card wasn't in the camera!

Happy Birthday Jack

Jack Facts:

Rolled over from front to back at 2 weeks.
Smiled at 3 weeks.
Sleeps 5 hr stretches at night.
Weighed 9 lbs 11 oz at 2 week check-up.
Spits up a lot!
Likes to joust and look at hands.
Follows mommy around with his eyes.
A very happy, mild, special little boy.

Big Boy Bed

It was time to get Bobby out of the crib and into a bed. We found these awesome bunk beds at our favorite store (Costco) and decided they were the ticket since Bobby and Jack will be sharing a room forever.

I found him these neat dinosaur sheets and he loves them.

Big Helper

Bobby is growing up and I didn't even notice. This is what I found when I was emptying the dishwasher the other night. He had set the table for dinner. He did a pretty good job of it too. Everyone's plate was in the right spot and everyone had the correct utensils. Not to bad for a child who is not even two yet!
