It is that time of year again...chili time. Robert's grandparents came up from Arizona with 5 burlap sacks of chili this year I didn't get to help as much as I would have liked because a certain little someone needs my constant supervision or he tears nana's house to pieces. I still had fun though.
First Papa and Grandpapa fire roast the chilies with a blow torch. Then they steam in an ice chest for a while. Then we peel them. This is what I spent most of my time doing. I find it quite fun sitting around talking with the others.
Nana and Grana Joy usually work the kitchen preparing the brine and canning the chilies. They pressure can them for 20 minutes.
Then we have beautiful canned chilies to last the whole year.
